The Real "Citizens on Patrol"

If you have watched Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol, this Newark Police project, featured by the NY Times, should be familiar. It even has almost the same objective: to spread good will about the police force.

Captain Susan Cole, the program coordinator has this to say,

“Seniors are home during the day, they see a lot, they’re staples in their community,” Captain Cole said. “They know a lot of people. They are the eyes and ears who can assist the Police Department. They’re the ones who can bring back that ‘it takes a village’ kind of community because somewhere along the way we’ve lost that.”
